Ways to Give
Gifts of Financial Support
As a small church, Redeemer Lutheran operates and delivers programming funded through the generous financial support of neighbours, family, friends and like-minded individuals who share our values and goals – people like you.
By giving as generously as you are able, you help positively impact the lives of individuals and the greater community. Tax receipts are issued for all financial gifts.
Donate by Cheque – Monthly donations can also be made by mailing or dropping off post-dated cheques to the church for the period during which you wish to donate. Please make cheques payable to “Redeemer Lutheran”.
If you’ve enjoyed your time at Redeemer Lutheran – at a service, event, or in our outdoor greenspaces – and would like to express your thanks or appreciation or support our ongoing efforts, consider a one-time gift.
Online Giving You can make a one-time donation (or provide ongoing support if you wish) to Redeemer Lutheran by clicking the link to our Canada Helps donation page. DONATE NOW
Dontion of Securities Donation of publicly-listed securities is a tax-smart means of making a major gift to Redeemer Lutheran – you pay no income tax on capital gains – and you receive a charitable tax receipt for the market value of the securities donated. Download the “Donation of Securities” form.
Honouring the life of a loved one with an in-memoriam donation to Redeemer Lutheran is a wonderful way to remember the special people who have touched your life. Your donation may be made by clicking the link to our Canada Helps donation page, mailing a cheque payable to “Redeemer Lutheran” to the church, or while attending a visitation or service at any funeral home.
Four Ways to Make a Planned Gift*
Bequests You can give a gift to Redeemer Lutheran through your will. You can claim up to 100% of your income on your final tax return and carry back any excess to the previous year, thus the tax relief from an estate gift can be significant. The most flexible Will wording is to leave your gift to: “Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church for its general purposes”. To make sure your financial gift is directed to its best purpose, please contact Redeemer’s Treasurer.
Gifts of Life Insurance When Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church is a named beneficiary, this can benefit both the donor and the church. The proceeds bypass your estate, providing protection from estate administration taxes and the charitable donation tax receipt will alleviate the tax burden on your estate.
Donation of Securities Planning to make a tax-smart gift of securities to Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church? Donating publicly-listed securities through your estate will exempt your estate from the associated capital gains taxes. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant gift while taking advantage of this tax relief strategy – your estate pays no income tax on the gains realized – your estate will receive a charitable tax receipt for the market value of the securities donated. To make sure your financial gift is directed to its best purpose, please contact Redeemer’s Treasurer.
RRSP/RRIF Gifts When the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church is designated as beneficiary of your RRSP or RRIF, the proceeds are paid directly, which bypasses your estate and avoids estate administration taxes. A charitable tax receipt will be issued, which will considerably reduce the amount of the tax generated by the realization of your plan on your death.
* Redeemer Lutheran strongly encourages donors to seek independent financial and/or legal counsel pertaining to their individual financial situation prior to making a planned gift. Please consider informing Redeemer Lutheran of your intention to leave a Planned Gift.
